An exquisite private country retreat in Carlow with self-catering farm cottages and stables.
Emily’s place was perfect for our country getaway escape for the New Year. The place was clean and the log fire was lovely. Emily and William were great hosts and very accommodating.
The Groom’s Cottage is an absolute dream set in the Irish countryside. Because it’s part of a larger estate, we enjoyed being able to take walks on the beautiful grounds and through the gardens.
Lovely, quaint cottage in an excellent location close to Carlow, Kilkenny and Wicklow mountains. Walks in the gardens of the “big house” are great for families and dogs. Very friendly cows in the field beside us!
I went to a friend’s wedding here, and stayed in one of their cottages, which was delightful and really old.
Lisnavagh is one of Ireland’s hidden gems. Surrounded by utterly beautiful gardens and landscape, the old estate house itself is wonderful, and the hosts (the Bunbury’s) friendly and accommodating.

Our converted stables are for those who want quirky, fun and cosy double bedrooms with an ensuite bathroom. There is an ad hoc facility for tea and coffee or a full fry up in an adjoining outbuilding otherwise known as ‘The Barn’, which is perfect for couples or groups to get together as well as just hanging out. The Courtyard Stables are situated on site just around the corner from Lisnavagh House.
Other self-catering options include The Groom’s Cottage, The Schoolhouse, Farm Cottage and Blacksmiths Cottage. All the cottages have oil fired central heating and logs for the fires. We supply cots, highchairs, bed linen and towels and each cottage has it’s own private garden.
