PJ Barrett & Co

Cube Building, Monahan Road, Cork, T12 H1XY

Dampness is one of the most harmful decay mechanisms in our built environment in Ireland. PJ Barrett & Co. specialise in investigation and specification of remedial actions against damp and timber decay issues. We aim to deliver sound advice through a holistic approach to advising on building repair and building conservation issues.

We provide specialist surveying and building investigation specifically for damp and timber decay issues on older or period properties. We deliver detailed advice on appropriate conservation works with particular emphasis on the repair of the original fabric.

Our principal, Peter Barrett, trained initially as a carpenter, became a certified surveyor in damp and timber decay issues in the UK and later received an MSc in Building Conservation in the University of York. With a practical approach to work on historic buildings, Peter provides a unique blend of sound practical experience and professional advice to anyone embarking on a building restoration project.

We offer further dedicated contract work to undertake specialist damp proofing and timber preservation treatment works; for the treatment of dampness, condensation, woodworm and dry rot problems.
