History of Carmel House
Carmel House was constructed in 1802 on the site of a 15th Century Carmelite Abbey commissioned by the ancient Irish O ‘ Molloy clan in about 1420. It is located in the historic region of Ireland known as Firceall (men of the Churches ). It went out of church ownership in 1807 but was re-acquired in 1908 when it was renamed Carmel (previously Greenhills) and served as the main parochial house up to 2010.
