Fairy Bridge House and Cottage are rare and unique 17th century whitewashed thatched cottages located on the scenic high road above Lough Corrib, only 1 mile from the pretty village of Oughterard.
Previously home to Lord McCoy it was purchased by the current owners in 1993, who have created a unique atmosphere which one would find difficult to recreate in this ideal hideaway location. There are many original features to be found in both properties including beamed ceilings and exposed stone walls which add to the character and charm of the properties.
The main cottage which is used as the owner’s private residence offers a spacious living/dining room with solid fuel stove, kitchen/breakfast room, three bedrooms (two ensuite) and a shower room. The other cottage is currently used as a holiday letting and offers an open plan living room/dining/kitchen, shower room and the traditional loft bedroom accessed by ladder.
The entry pathway to Fairy Bridge is lined with blooming rosebushes and the properties are surrounded with greenery, flowers and little grottos where you may quietly sit and soak up the unique atmosphere. There are a series of outbuildings around the site and a mobile home which can also be utilised as holiday letting accommodation. It really is a magical fairytale place and must be viewed to be truly appreciated.
