To the left of the arena is the bell house which is surrounded by mature trees offering a great sense of privacy and security. Behind the arena are two large paddocks which are used daily by the current owner and are presented very well. On the southside of the holding, you will find a headland which attracts various wildlife, including swans, ducks, egrets, kingfishers, cormorants and herons etc in addition to migratory birds such as Canada Geese.
History
Built in around the 1870s the building is one of several farm buildings set in the grounds of an original larger walled estate farm, Lissen Hall. It had split level stables and storage buildings which have been converted to a house and guest wing.
The railway bridge built in 1844 across the mouth of the Broadmeadow/Malahide Estuary has resulted in the lagoonal character of the inner estuary, designated as both a Special Protection Area (SPA) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). On the northwest part of the site there is a very attractive stone building with a bell tower that would have been used to summon the farm workers. The building is an excellent example of beautiful utilitarian rural buildings and would be perfect for further renovation if so desired (S.P.P.).
